MY STORY
Self defined artist circa 2010
I always enjoyed art class but it was not until 5th grade that I truly started to practice making art. I would play games online where you could dress up a character and I would print them out and draw them in my composition notebook. I then moved on to working in a real sketchbook where I would design dresses or draw the things around me. Slowly, I started to explore different mediums; graphite, charcoal, oil pastels, watercolor, and acrylic paint. As I moved to middle school and high school, I was always enthusiastic to sign up for art classes. The more I learned and grew, the more passionate I became about creating original artwork.

It was during my senior year of high school that I fully committed to the path of going to college and becoming an art teacher. After being offered an athletic, as well as an academic, scholarship, I started my freshman year at Grand View University. During my four years at Grand View, not only was I preparing to become a teacher, but I grew exponentially as an artist. I explored new mediums such as sculpture, oil paint, watercolor pencils, ink/micron as well as further developing my skills in graphite, charcoal, and acrylic paint.

While in my art classes, I learned to think critically and to really dig deep into what I was trying to say through my artwork. I grew as a person and saw myself becoming more articulate when speaking about art through my participation in critiques and conferences with my professors. As I approach the end of my college career, I am eager to see how my art will develop on a personal level.
